Morning Music Moment
Weekday morning prayers to practice beginning each day with gratitude. Brief (2-3 minutes) and normally inspired by a song verse.
Some say that God rather more sung (than spoke) the universe into existence.. We (still) hear echoes of that tune, which we have never heard (ref C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory).
I once heard that no good thing is lost in heaven, which maybe offers some hope that we will receive back the music and songs that were loved, and hear them again in heaven. Though like us, corrected and perfected.

1 'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
It will be in the valley of love and delight.
Refrain:
When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
'Til by turning, turning we come 'round right.
2 'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be fair,
'Tis the gift to wake and breathe the morning air.
To walk every day in the path we choose.
'Tis the gift that we pray we never, never lose. [Refrain]
3 'Tis the gift to be knowing, 'tis the gift to be kind,
'Tis the gift to wait to hear another's mind,
That when we speak our feelings we might come out true,
'Tis the gift for me and the gift for you. [Refrain]
4 'Tis the gift to be loving, 'tis the best gift of all,
Like the warm spring rain bringing beauty when it falls,
And as we use this gift we might come to believe
it is better to give than it is to receive. [Refrain]
Good morning family, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Tis the gift to be simple. Tis the gift to be fair. Tis the gift to wake and breathe the morning air, to walk every day in the path we choose. Tis a gift that we pray we never, never lose. Tis the gift to be knowing. Tis the gift to be kind. Tis the gift to wait to hear another's mind, that when we speak our feelings we might come out true. Tis the gift for me and the gift for you. Tis the gift to be loving. Tis the best gift of all, like the warm spring rain bringing beauty when it falls. And as we use this gift we might come to believe it is better to give than it is to receive.
Speaker 1:Bless us, o Lord, not because we are good, but because of your goodness. Please bless us again today, all of us, every single person whom you have fearfully and wonderfully made, against all of our trials and tribulations and sufferings and fears. Please hear us and strengthen and heal us, reconcile us to yourself and open our eyes to your blessings and to know that you are for us and not against us. And these thy gifts help me to count and recount thy gifts, and especially my friends and loved ones, and especially for the gifts that I have been taking for granted, and enlighten my mind to start seeing as gifts some things or even some difficult people or situations that I did not previously see your hand in which we are about to receive. Thank you for all that we have received and are receiving at every moment and will receive from your hand and from your heart, every good and perfect gift from thy bounty, for all of the ways that we are stuck thinking about scarcity and trade-offs and endless calculations about when this or that will run out.
Speaker 1:Help us to be prudent and practical stewards of our time, talent and treasure, our lives and our bodies, and help us to be generous toward others and toward you, our Father, most especially with time, even beyond what is prudent, and to remain hopeful and trusting in your limitless bounty Through Christ, our Lord Jesus, who created everything out of nothing and then later had to pay for everything at the cost of your life. Take up and take back everything and every life which belongs to you which you have paid for. Win us over and win us back with your goodness. Set our cold hearts on fire and fill us with yourself, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. I love you so much.
